The significant increase in commercial operations in the past 5 years indicates there is demand for cold storage and dry warehouses in our city. In response, the Economic Development Corporation has purchased 320 acres along FM 650 to develop a heavy-industrial-zoned subdivision to service the needs of importers seeking to lease, purchase, or develop an industrial building.
The first phase has 22 lots ranging in size from 2.5 acres to 12 acres, for a total of 144 acres.
The first stage of the first phase is scheduled to receive 1.5 million dollars in federal grants from the USDA rural development fund and from the economic development administration. For the second phase, Congressman Henry Cuellar has earmarked $1 Million Dollars from the Federal Budget.
The City of Roma and CBP signed a Memorandum of Understanding committing to the establishment of a Secondary Examination Station. The 30,000 sq ft building will have 12 cold bays and 10 dry, and it will continue to offer unified cargo processing (inspeccion conjunta) alongside with: CBP Agriculture and Narcotics, ANAM (Agencia Nacional de Aduanas de Mexico), USDA Agricultural Marketing Service, FDA,
Through a Memorandum of Understanding with CBP, the project introduces a consolidated inspection process that integrates services from CBP, USDA, TCIP, and FDA, enhancing throughput and reducing operational costs.
The Secondary Examination Station will include dedicated docks for dry and cold storage, overflow truck parking, and a comprehensive inspection area catering to USDA, FDA, and ANAM requirements, equipped with modern amenities to support logistics operations.
Roma's port of entry, located in close proximity to the Monterrey metropolitan area, is not only the nearest but also the most efficient and easily accessible port via highway 54. This highway serves as a crucial link connecting the industrial areas near Monterrey to the Ribereña highway (Federal Highway #2), which leads directly to Roma's port of entry.
Significant infrastructure upgrades, including a $5 million restoration of the suspension bridge to facilitate pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and improvements to State Loop 195, are designed to streamline traffic to and from the park.
