The Roma Preservation Partnership invites a “partner” from the private sector to rehabilitate, manage, and maintain a historic property in return for a long term lease. As a result, the Roma EDC secures the long term preservation of a threatened historic structure and the curator exchanges hard work and resources for the opportunity to live or work in a one of a kind location. The “partner” for each project is selected through an open and competitive process. Proposals are evaluated on the quality of the reuse plan and whether it is compatible with the historic and natural character of the surrounding historic district, the experience of the applicant, proof of sufficient resources to undertake the project, and the level of public benefit. Lease terms generally range between 10-30 years and are based on the amount of work required for each property.
