Exciting Career Opportunity as a Public Relations Specialist in the City of Roma

The City of Roma is seeking a dynamic and creative Public Relations Specialist to join the City Manager’s Office. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to shape and manage the city’s public image and communication strategies, playing a key role in engaging with the community and promoting Roma’s vibrant culture and historic charm.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Public Relations Specialist, you will be at the forefront of the city’s communication efforts. Your main duties will include:

- Developing Communication Strategies: Create and distribute engaging content across social media, press releases, newsletters, and the city’s website.

- Event Coordination: Plan and promote city events such as community festivals and public meetings, ensuring they are well-publicized and attract both residents and visitors.

- Media Relations: Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries, draft and distribute press releases, and ensure accurate information is shared with the public.

- Brand Development: Assist in rebranding efforts to highlight Roma’s unique character, and develop marketing strategies to promote tourism in the city’s historic district.

- Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between the city and its residents, engaging with the community to gather feedback and share city initiatives and services.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

- A high school diploma or GED (an associate degree in communications or a related field is preferred).

- Experience in public relations, media relations, or event planning.

- Proficiency in both English and Spanish.

- Strong communication and social media management skills.

- Experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
