Introduction
The City of Roma is excited to announce an impactful development project that promises to strengthen local infrastructure and enhance community safety—the Roma Industrial Park Booster Pump Station Project. Designed to bolster water supply and pressure, this project will serve the needs of the growing Roma Industrial Park, ensuring a stable, efficient water system to support both everyday and emergency needs, such as public fire safety.
Project Overview
The Roma Industrial Park Booster Pump Station Project is set to install an above-ground storage tank and booster pump station within the industrial park area. The improvements are tailored to boost water pressure, effectively meeting both domestic and public fire protection requirements. Funded through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, this project is expected to enhance the water infrastructure significantly, preparing the industrial park for growth and future demand.
Key project locations within the park include:
- Lot 1: Northeast corner of FM 650 and West Industrial Parkway
- Site A: Located approximately 3,592 feet north of the intersection of FM 650 and West Industrial Parkway
- Site B: Positioned around 2,250 feet west of West Industrial Parkway and Centennial Drive
- Site C: At the intersection of FM 650 and Mid Industrial Parkway
Environmental Impact Assessment
As part of our commitment to sustainability and community responsibility, the City of Roma completed a comprehensive Environmental Review Record (ERR). The assessment revealed a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on the environment. Therefore, the project will not require an extensive Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), reaffirming our dedication to minimizing environmental disruption.
Public Involvement and Comment Period
Community involvement is central to our project planning. The public is encouraged to review the ERR, available at City Hall from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Comments or concerns from individuals, groups, or agencies are welcome, as they play an essential role in our commitment to transparency and accountability. Comments should be submitted to SAMES, Inc., and will be reviewed by the City of Roma before formally requesting the release of project funds.
Funding and Certification
This $1,000,000 project, backed by Community Project Funding, is a collaboration between the City of Roma and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The City certifies compliance with federal regulations to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and approval from HUD will authorize the use of grant funds. Objections regarding the fund release can be directed to the HUD San Antonio Field Office, adhering to guidelines set forth in 24 CFR Part 58, Sec. 58.76.
Next Steps
Upon successful completion of the public comment and certification process, the City of Roma aims to move forward with the booster pump station installation. This development is a testament to the City’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and safeguarding both current and future residents and businesses within the Roma Industrial Park.
