A Word From Our Mayor

Dear Roma Citizens,

I am excited to share this week's message with you. The City of Roma is delighted to announce that Cesarea "Chayo" Garcia has been chosen as the Parade Marshal for the 2024 Roma Fest Parade. Mrs. Garcia, an esteemed and beloved community member, has devoted over 33 years to serving Roma through her steadfast dedication to her business, Fiesta Restaurant. Her journey is one of resilience, perseverance, delicious breakfast tacos, and an enduring affection for the city she proudly calls home.

The parade will take place this Sunday, October 20th, starting at 3:30 PM from Citizens State Bank and ending at our beautiful Guadalupe Plaza. This celebration is exceptional as it's not solely about the floats; it's a collective display of our entire community showcasing their respective organizations. I urge all our schools, businesses, churches, and civic groups to participate in this time-honored celebration. Your involvement is not just appreciated, but it's also instrumental in making our festivities grander and more memorable.

I want to thank the Roma Arts & Culture Commission for their dedicated efforts in organizing this event. Special thanks to Chairman Abiel Hinojosa and the entire commission for making this year's parade particularly remarkable. The chosen theme, "Carnaval de Brazil," will undoubtedly add more fun and vibrancy to our floats and celebration.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the parade on Sunday afternoon. Let's show Ms. Chayo Garcia how proud we are of her by cheering her on as she leads our parade. Let's make this Roma Fest the best one we've ever had!

Sincerely,

Jaime Escobar Jr.

Mayor
