Dear Roma Citizens,
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. The previous week was packed with various community activities, including our city's annual "Walk All Over Cancer" walk. We are incredibly thankful for our community's overwhelming support and active participation in this event. Not only did it help raise awareness about cancer, but it also highlighted our collective resilience and empathy. Our primary objective is to emphasize the importance of early detection through regular health screenings. We firmly believe that no one should battle cancer alone, and we urge the community to stand in solidarity with one another during challenging times.
Our city has a new Royal Court. Last Sunday, during the Miss Roma Pageant, Valeria Garza was crowned Miss Roma, Isabella K. Gonzalez was crowned Princess, and Caremi Ramirez was crowned Duchess. We congratulate them on being chosen to serve as student ambassadors for our city. Their role is not just a title but a commitment to serve and inspire. We are proud to have them represent us and are excited about the positive impact they will have on our community, inspiring our youth to strive for excellence.
A persistent issue affecting our citizens has been the intersection of Obregon Street and Highway 83, which has deteriorated due to insufficient drainage, resulting in potholes after rainy weather. To address this, city crews will remove the old asphalt, compact the ground with caliche, and resurface that section of the street with new asphalt. This process will be carried out one lane at a time to ensure that traffic continues to flow smoothly while our team works on fixing the road this week and next. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our public works department for their dedicated efforts in addressing this issue.
As always, thank you for reading my weekly message. Your support and participation in our community events are not just appreciated, they are integral to our progress. With that in mind, I encourage you to join us at our monthly City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 15th, at City Hall beginning at 5:30 PM. Your voice and input are important as we work together to make Roma a better place to live for everyone.
Sincerely,
Mayor
